Coral Castle 28655 S. Dixie Highway Homestead, Fla. 305-248-6345 Latvian immigrant Edward Leedskalnin began building Coral Castle in 1923, making it one of Florida's oldest operating attractions. As a tribute to a love who spurned him, Leedskalnin hauled in the coral and carved the material into a house and all the furniture he needed - without the aid of modern tools or hauling equipment. Visitors can see Leedskalin's bed, his bathtub and even a reclining chair. Take Interstate 95 south until it ends. Follow U.S. 1 to Coral Castle. Open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
